Make your next dinner date with some fine flowers

Inviting a special lady over for dinner is always a nerve-wracking experience, especially if you're not exactly the sort who prides himself on keeping a clean house. Tidying up is always a good first step to take, but if you're looking for a way to bring that extra bit of oomph to the evening, it may be just the time to pick up a bouquet of flowers. You'd be surprised at how well they can tie a room together when they are artfully placed on some empty counter space, or on the dining table. If you're not sure what to pick up, here are a few ideas that will help inspire you.

You're going to want something fresh and vivacious, but not overly so. If you overdo it, you run the risk of giving your home a senior citizen's aesthetic. Even if - for whatever reason - this might work for you, it's probably not the vibe you want to be giving off to a lady that you're trying to impress. Stick to a single bouquet, and let it do the heavy lifting on its own. The type of flower you end up displaying is largely a matter of taste, but it's understandable if you could use a bit of guidance.
You can't go wrong with something like roses - they're inherently romantic, and if you mix up the color scheme, you won't have to worry about overdoing it. Spruce up your dining room by working fall colors into the arrangement. Deep reds and oranges work very well, especially when paired with some fresh greens. Add dashes of yellow for an extra bit of vitality and you're good to go!
If you'd rather work with something a bit more modest, consider picking up some orchids. You can either pick up a single bloom and place it tastefully in a small, thin vase, or buy several smaller flowers. Either way, they're going to look fantastic once you put them on display. Remember - the flowers don't have to be lavish and over-the-top. If you're going to be putting them on the dining table, ensure that the bouquet isn't too tall. You don't want to have to spend the entire evening bobbing and weaving around the thing just to talk to each other.
